SF-Lovers Digest

The digest started in 1980 on what was then known as the ARPAnet. The Digest format was designed so that people could get a single message each day, instead of getting many messages. Part of the intent, was to see how much of an effect this style had on mailers, and the network.

When USEnet newsgroups started, the Digest, which was already quite popular on the net, was linked to the newsgroups in such a way that any message that appeared on one, would also appear on the other.

Over the years, things have changed greatly. Today, the Digest is mostly a collection of the "best" of the newsgroup messages.

Except for a few missing issues, and some of the early messages from before they were archived, all of the Digest issues are available for browsing.
